After an Australian man made an amazing close call with a power tool, millions of TikTok users backed away in horror-a sharp fragment broke and cut his protective mask, his eyes stopped breathing.

Matthew Peters was using a grinder—a tool for sharpening blades and tools—when half of the metal disc broke and flew directly into his face.

Fortunately, Peters wore a mask and absorbed the blow-but the sharp disc still pierced the plastic directly, stopping less than an inch from his eyes.

Saved! Millions of TikTok users flinched in horror after an Australian man made a surprisingly close call with a power tool

Very close! Matthew Peters is using a grinder-a tool for sharpening blades and tools-when half of the metal disc breaks and flies directly on his face

"Is anyone working before?" He wrote on the video, with the title "Close Call".

He showed a close-up of the Makita grinder he had been using, and it had only half of the metal disc left.

It is unclear how it broke, but it seems to be still rotating when it broke.

As it spun, half of the disc flew towards Peters' face, piercing his mask a little bit.

"Has anyone else been working before?" he wrote on the video, showing the broken tool

Go viral: The video shocked TikTok viewers, who watched 55.4 million times and liked 8.4 million times

Fortunately, the plastic seemed to stop the work in time: Peters first photographed his face from the front, and then from the side, showing how close the metal is to his face.

The side view shows a point just a few millimeters from his cheek, and some of the metal is less than an inch from his eyes.

The video shocked TikTok's audience. They watched it 55.4 million times and liked it 8.4 million times.

"You'd better buy a lottery ticket," an audience member suggested.

"It's time to find a new job," another person quipped.

Another netizen wrote: "This happens when you say,'Today is a good day for work' and then forget to knock on the wood."
